I am becoming more of what I read, the music I play, the conversations I have, the friends I keep, the thoughts I have in my head. This year is very different from the last. I have less time in my hands and I constantly need to ground my thoughts to the present. I look back and admire how much ‘lazing’ around I was doing but that lazing around was work in itself. More of me cultivating the ground for the planting that is going on this year and the harvesting that is yet to come.
I have so many quotes that I came across from conversations, podcasts, books and I am convicted they may shape someone other than my notepad. Some are quite unpopular but if you give the words a chance, you will see the sense in them.
- There is investing in spending much as we do not see it tacked away in an account earning profit. ( This has become my go to excuse for the money spent on social gatherings i.e kupiga sherehe)
- It is never about how the woman looks but how she makes the man feel ( This is the answer to all who wonder why he/she left you for that other person).
- Be careful of your dignity, it is not always your friend.
- If the advice in self help books worked then maybe it would not be a multi million dollar industry ( Maybe we make it a multi million dollar industry by our constant need to hear the same words over and over from different authors).
- Find something that momentarily helps you forget your age, gender, socio-economic background, your duties, your failures.
- Argue for your limitations and you get to keep them.
- The unkindness of people only hurts as long as we remember it.
- Uncertainty is the acknowledgement of your ignorance and cultivation of constant doubt in your belief.
- Failure becomes unimportant when the standard of success is merely acting ( Acting in this case being doing the deed).
- Finally, we love someone when the importance of their needs and desires rises to the level of our own.
Feel free to comment by sharing the quotes filled in your notepad and/or your thoughts on the above quotes.
